Boys Varsity Soccer
The Varsity Soccer team played a very good game yesterday against a talented Wakefield team, but fell to the Owls 4-0. Wakefield wasted little time in getting on the board as they scored just 1:45 into the game. The defensive unit of Michael Frazier, Andrew Marsh, Ryan Dorsch, Sam Stearns, and Ned Selzer were pressured throughout the first half. Wakefield added its second goal at the 15:30 mark and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Powhatan regrouped nicely and began to put some pressure on the Wakefield defenders in the second half. Jack McGraw led the way in the midfield along with Ben Cluss and Josh Blake. Michael Frazier's aggressive play in the midfield during the second half was excellent. Scoring opportunities came from Brett Lewin and Ian Davenport, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Michael Miskelly played his best game of the season, creating scoring chances and distributing the ball nicely. Eric Stewart and Brant Bell split time in goal and both players made aggressive saves and turned away many shots.
Wakefield added to its total at the 21:00 minute mark and the 5:00 minute mark in the second half to make it 4-0.
The Chiefs return to action on October 23rd when they host Hill. Game time is 4:30.
